Local Enterprise Partnerships receive boost

01/10/2012

Core funding of over £24 million for Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) was announced by the government. The funding will be provided equally by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department for Communities and Local Government. This is a big increase from the £5 million of core funding made available to LEPs last year.

The LEPs are central in the government's approach for driving local economic growth. There are 39 LEPs across England and each consists of local businesses working with local authorities. The core funding will allow the LEPs to continue their work and develop more job opportunities, and provide more growth locally.
