Taxisafepay - Pay for your taxi by mobile phone

Whether a young person is away from home at University or College; or your loved one is out and wants to get home their safety is paramount. How many times do we hear that the person is unable to get home because they have no cash; the cash they had for the taxi has been spent; or (and this happens far too often) a customer is dumped somewhere away from their destination.

With more and more people using mobile phones as their main communication device and cash becoming less acceptable the opportunity to be able to pay for a taxi journey by text is an obvious development. With over 650 million taxi journeys undertaken annually, being able to provide a safe and secure solution that enables  the customer to pay with confidence has resulted in Taxisafepay being developed.

Taxisafepay provides the customer with the ability to use their mobile phone to pay the Taxi Driver for the journey as part of a pre-payment loyalty scheme.

We have carefully selected Taxi Operators as partners who share our commitment to safety and will always ensure that the customer is looked after and will get to their destination. The Taxi Operator partner will normally be one company per Licensing Authority (town/city).

Taxisafepay (Loyalty) - How It Works
Each new member will need to register with Taxisafepay which will give them their Account ID, local Taxi Operator, and associate their mobile phones with the account. The next step is for the member to provide an initial balance which will be placed with the Taxi Operator and this updates their Taxisafepay balance within the system.

The payment can be an initial £20 (recommended initial payment) which can then be topped up by cash, debit card, or standing order at a later date.

Taxisafepay is now ready to be used!
When the customer books the journey the Taxi Operator will designate this as a Taxisafepay job so that the driver knows how the customer will be paying. The customer will use the taxi to get to their destination and when it comes to pay they will use their mobile phone to send the Taxisafepay code, driver ID and amount (including a tip if they wish) to the Taxisafepay server where the amount will be validated and updated.
The customer receives a text as their receipt and the Taxi Driver receives a text as his confirmation of payment. The Taxisafepay system provides real time updates and reporting to the Taxi Operator so that they can show usage; identify where the balance is low and be proactive in terms of the service they are providing.

If the account balance is insufficient, then as part of the partnership agreement we have with the Taxi Operator the payment will be authorised and they will contact the account holder at the earliest possible convenience to top up the account.

Taxisafepay - Costs
The costs for Taxisafepay are as follows:
Membership of Taxisafepay - Customer is £2 plus VAT (one time joining fee) and 25p per journey used (charged as a text)
