Training Grants for the Sea Food Industry

New Business Training Support Package

Seafish has launched a new funding package to assist seafood businesses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland wanting to invest in staff training (a different support package is available for Scottish businesses).

Seafood processors, importers and distributors can apply to Seafish for 50% funding towards the cost of an approved programme of Seafish-certificated training, up to a limit of £1,000 per business. For retailers and businesses in the food service sector the limit is £500 per business.

The same list of Seafish-certificated training programmes applies to both ITSG and BTSP funding schemes. The main difference is that BTSP funding is more flexible and is not necessarily limited to the same limits for individual courses. This list shows the courses eligible for BTSP funding.

To be eligible, businesses must be active in the seafood industry and wanting to undertake a programme of Seafish-certificated training (involving three or more staff members) delivered by a Seafish-approved training provider. Applications must be submitted in advance of the training being undertaken.

To apply, complete the application form and send it to Seafish by email to training@seafish.co.uk or by post to Administrator, Seafish Training & Accreditation, Origin Way, Europarc, Grimsby, NE Lincs DN37 9TZ. You will be notified by email of a decision within 15 working days of receipt. Successful applicants will be reimbursed after the training has been completed and they have submitted copies of receipts evidencing the amount they have paid for the training.
